Summer Reflections
When we purchased Royal Starr Resort, I had every intention of writing a weekly blog to share our journey.
Well... that lasted exactly one post.
The truth is, we've simply been having too much fun.
Most mornings begin the same way—with a hot cup of coffee by the lake as the sun rises over 6th Crow Wing Lake. Those quiet moments have become my time to slow down before the day begins. After that, the pace picks up quickly. Laundry needs folding, cabins need attention, the lodge opens, phones ring, activities need organizing, and there's always another project waiting.
But my favorite part of every day has been something I couldn't have fully appreciated until we were here—getting to know all of you.
Each week brings new families, couples, fishing groups, and friends who choose to spend part of their summer with us. Hearing your stories, watching children make lifelong memories on the beach, seeing grandparents teach grandkids to fish, and listening to laughter around evening campfires reminds us why we took this leap of faith.
We truly feel blessed by the incredible guests who have walked through our doors this summer. Many of you have already reserved your stay for next year, and some of you are already talking about returning this winter for ice fishing. Knowing that Royal Starr has become part of your family's traditions means more to us than we can express.
Even though we've spent most of this summer focused on serving our guests, we haven't stopped dreaming.
Our notebooks are still full of ideas.
This fall, we'll begin working on projects to carefully maintain and improve the beautiful resort we were fortunate enough to inherit from its previous owners. We love this place and want to honor its history while thoughtfully making it even better for future generations of guests. Every improvement we make has one goal in mind: creating an even better experience for the families who choose to vacation here.
Owning Royal Starr Resort has truly been a dream come true for our family.
But the dream isn't just about the cabins, the lake, or the property.
It's about the people.
It's about the conversations on the lodge porch, the smiles on the beach, the excitement of a child's first fish, and watching families disconnect from busy schedules to reconnect with one another.
So, as we find ourselves halfway through our first summer season, we simply want to say thank you.
Thank you for trusting us with your family vacations.
Thank you for your kindness, encouragement, and patience as we've learned the ropes.
Thank you for making our first season one we'll never forget.
We can't wait to see what the rest of this summer brings, and we're even more excited for everything that's still to come.
See you around the resort,
Kasey & Angela Hulett
